Embossed Nature

Hello!  Thanks so much to those of you who are still reading my daughter's story of anorexia and leaving supportive, encouraging comments for me.  I truly treasure each comment I receive, but in particular on that post.  Your comments are part of my own therapy, so thank you!!

I have to admit this was a pretty quick card to make.  The bottom portion, which is brown with a tone on tone pattern, and the glittery yellow strip, was cut from a Hallmark card.  I adhered it to a Close to Cocoa card base (which I already had lying about) then zipped the whole thing through the Big Shot with an embossing folder.  The leaf (from SU's With Gratitude) was already colored and cut out (because you'll soon see this same leaf on another project).  The little die cut tag is from a retired sheet of die cuts (also SU).   All I had to do was stamp it and distress the edges with a little ink.

I used a nail file, the squishy block kind, to distress the bottom of the card.

Challenges entered:
  • Paper Issues (my first time!) - Tree Hugger theme
  • Tuesday Throwdown - Fall theme
  • Ribbon Carousel - Fabric of our Lives theme - include fabric (mine is the abaca natural woven material)
Thanks so much for joining me!  I hope you have a wonderful day.  :-)

Colleen

Stamps:  With Gratitude - SU; Butterflies and Wisteria - MFP

Totally fabulous!!! The embossing is so beautiful! I sure wish I could find all my folders and the rest of my die cuts! The only dies I have are the ones I have bought since leaving Hawaii! Urgh! (or the few that were on my craft desk) They packed things so crazy, so I may find them when I go to decorate for Christmas! I love love your coloring and your upcycling is always so cool!

Have a great weekend!

Colleen, Since I follow you via e-mail, I had already seen this gorgeous creation in my mailbox but I'm so glad you decided to submit it at Tuesday Throwdown this week. Love the way you distressed only the bottom part of the embossing. Perfect touch!

Love the EF you used and the qay ou inked or sanded the bottom portion of the card to get the white. Of course, I LOVE maple leaves LOL, and the touch of mesh is fabulous. Great card :) (((hugs)))

Hard to believe that this was a quick card, Colleen--it looks like it took hours!! And it is completely. absolutely. beautiful. LOVE that fabulous woven mesh--it adds so much texture. And the colors? LOVE them. And way to go with recycling that glittery yellow from a saved Hallmark card (I do that, too!!!) This design is just wonderful--way to go! Have a great weekend, Col!!!!

Is this freakin gorgeous or what? I love this card! I walked Henry today and we saw some trees turning. I had to look fast as he was in a hurry to walk! I thought bassets were couch potatoes! Boy, those little short legs could move! Anyway, I love how you distressed the lower portion too. Lots of different looks could be achieved by changing out the yellow band. Thanks for a beauty of a card and lots of inspiration!

Ooo this is gorgeous Colleen. I like how it has a vintage look to it with the technique you used on the bit of the embossing. The fiber helps with the theme as well. Just beautiful.
